~~A letter to Parents ~~
You walk into your child's bedroom and find a book on WitchCraft. Don't run to find a priest or the Holy Water. Don't register her/him at the local Private/Catholic School. Take a breath. Count to 10. Perhaps sit down, with a cup of Hot Coco and read the book. Yes, read the book. Learn the basics of WitchCraft...read the Wiccan Rede, the goals. Ask your child questions.
WitchCraft is one of the fastest growing religions in America. There are no concrete churches to join and he or she will make most of they're decisions....a chance to show their maturity and responsibility.
If your child hands you the book, please respect your child's courage, and take the time to read the material rather than getting angry or upset. Share the drink and the pages as you share feelings and knowledge.
Remember that WitchCraft, Paganism and Wicca is also a religion - we say prayer, chants, spells, perform ritual and cast circles. We worship, respect and seek guidance and wisdom to deities - Goddess and God.
Allow your child to discover spirituality for themselves. There is a possibility that they are searching their universe...the world for answers in which they may not have found in traditional religions. From personal experience, I had questions regarding my religious child/teen family upbringing - Christian. I felt that there was a huge part of me missing - I found the missing piece - The Craft.
"Witchcraft is an Earth-based religion focused on raising an individual's spirituality. WitchCraft is not, nor was it ever, a vehicle for Satanic worship." (Teen Witch, SilverRavenwolf)
Please let your child to read and to be informed of the Craft. Be open to your child; perhaps your child will feel comfortable to share their knowledge. Give your child the opportunity to teach them...show them respect and your interest in an area in which is important to them.
The Craft may not be the religion of your choice; nevertheless, allow your child his/her choice of religion.
"WitchCraft isn't something you need to worry about. Celebrate that your child seeks empowerment." (TeenWitch)
