TRADITIONAL JAPANESE KARATE-DO RANK SYSTEM
The KYU Grades: Kyu grades are the ranks below Black belt. Kyu grades start at 10th Kyu and go downwards to 1st Kyu.
White: 10th-9th kyu. Yellow: 8th-6th kyu. Green: 5th-3rd kyu. Brown: 2nd-1st kyu.
The DAN Rank: Unlike the Kyu grades, Dan Ranks start at the lowest rank which is "Shodan-Ho" (apprentice black belt) (not pictured), and work upwards to the highest: Ju-Dan 10th Dan. The display above show the DAN ranks form Shodan (1st degree) through Judan (10th degree).
