THE ARCHANGEL NEWS
KARATE FOR CHRIST INTERNATIONAL
UNITED STATES OPERATIONS HEADQUARTERS
Norfolk, Virginia.

November - December  2008

In This Issue:

In Memory of Jim Karnes-Kyoshi
A Dear Friend, Brother in Christ, KFCI Member,
Supporter of Asia Reach Ministries, and Fellow Ranger!

"A RANGER DIED TODAY"

He was getting old and slower, and his hair was falling fast,
but we still thought of him as a legend, due to exploits of his past.

No more Ranger stories, For Jim Karnes has passed  away,
And the world's a little pooer, For a Ranger died today.

He won't be mourned by 1000s, Cause he lived an humble life,
Teaching the art he loved so well, Serving faithfully, with his wife.

Jim would tell us not to morn, And wonder in dismay
He's beat us all to heaven, RANGERS LEAD THE WAY!

His life was for his country, But more so for the Savior.
His devotion to both of these, Never did it waiver.

He was just a common Ranger, and his ranks are growing thin,
but his presence should remind us, we may need his like again.

For when countries are in conflict, then we find the Ranger's part,
Is to clean up all the tousles, that the politicians start.

If you didn't  do him honor, while Jim was alive to hear the praise,
then at least s give him mention, at the ending of his days.

Perhaps just a simple headline, in the paper that might say:
OUR COUNTRY IS IN MOURNING,
FOR A RANGER DIED TODAY.

Sincerely,
Daryl Covington, 7th-Dan.
President, Karate for Christ International

Jim Karnes-Kyoshi

 Homegoing - 9 Nov 2008

A Christian Samurai Is Called Home

Jim was a Karate for Christ Int'l. Certified Instructor and a U.S. Army Ranger Legend.  As a Ranger he was called and known as "POPS", because he was the oldest man ever to go through  the U.S. Army Ranger School and complete the course.

Before his passing, Jim was promoted to 5th-Dan within the Shinsei Hapkido System an too,
9th-Dan within the Tokoshi Martial Arts system.

Jim was a man who loved and lived for the Lord.

We're going to miss him much.

-Mike Lewis, 7th-Dan
President, U.S. HQ. Karate for Christ International.
