Leopoldville Memorial Association
A reunion of Leopoldville families took place in Columbus, GA from September 12-15, 2002. It was decided to formalize the LMA (Leopoldville Memorial Association) . At the October 2006 reunion held in New Cumberland, Pennsylvania, Mike Bryant, grandson of Leopoldville survivor Merle B. Knox, was elected President. The new Secretary is Roger Baker (Holts Summit, MO). Roger's brother, Sgt. Elmer A. Baker Jr., was killed in the disaster. The new treasurer is Jerry Catalano (North Merrick, NY). Jerry's brother, Sgt. Angelo Catalano, was killed in the disaster.
The LMA held its 2008 reunion in Columbus, GA where Ft. Benning is located from 10/09 - 10/12. The following officers were elected -----

The goal of the organization is to promote public awareness of the disaster, reach out to the families of the soldiers killed in the disaster providing them with as much information about their loved one's sacrifice as possible, develop a periodic newsletter and hold periodic reunions at various locations across the country.
